Your business studies with a special focus
You will complete a comprehensive business administration course and acquire knowledge in business administration, corporate management, personnel management, marketing, accounting I and II, cost accounting & controlling, taxes, investment and financing. You will also study the content and methodological foundations of the related disciplines of law, economics, statistics and mathematics. Business English and knowledge of business informatics round off your profile.
In addition, your specialization will prepare you specifically for founding your own company or working as an "intrapreneur" within a larger company!
Around 100,000 new companies are founded in Germany every year, according to the Start-up Monitor. Digitalization is driving the trend towards start-ups. The downside: more than two thirds of founders throw in the towel in the first five years. The "Start-up and Innovation Management" specialization provides aspiring entrepreneurs with the necessary know-how, but also qualifies innovation managers.
Successful start
What are the success and failure factors for start-ups? In conjunction with the compulsory business administration, economics and business law modules, this specialization offers all the content requirements for successfully founding a company and systematically designing innovation processes. You will learn how to draw up a business plan and develop an economically sound financing concept for your start-up project. You will also learn how to assess the feasibility of business ideas and business models.
Further perspectives
Most graduates set up their own company. However, some also want to take on a management role in an existing company or open up new business areas as an "intrapreneur". Outside of self-employment, the elective subject offers valuable know-how that is in demand in the following professional fields:

The standard period of study of 3 years (6 semesters) corresponds to a full-time course of study, so the duration of the course will be longer if you are studying alongside your job. However, your relevant experience as a professional will give you the opportunity to combine your studies with practical knowledge and, for example, to work on practical topics in term papers or theses.
If your personal or professional situation requires it, you can always extend your studies free of charge for up to 18 months. After that, there are further fee-based extension options.
You can find all the important information about your degree program in your personal study guide.
