Organizations that actively embrace diversity play a crucial role in promoting an inclusive and respectful society. Allensbach University is a "Role Model in Diversity 2024".
Diversity has become a buzzword in the economic and social debate. A diversity concept encompasses acceptance of and respect for diversity - and is increasingly required by companies in order to position themselves as the organization of the future. In practice, diversity refers to the inclusion and handling of differences in various dimensions such as ethnicity, gender, age, nationality, religion, disability, sexual orientation and socio-economic status. It is not only about recognizing these differences, but also about appreciating and using this diversity.
For this reason, the F.A.Z. Institute and ServiceValue examined the question: What makes a role model in diversity? The study states: "By actively focusing on equal opportunities and gender fairness, a company becomes a role model in diversity. This creates a corporate culture that values and promotes the diversity of employees, regardless of gender or background. A change within a company is achieved by offering equal development opportunities for all and ensuring that women are more strongly represented in management positions. Diversity drives a broader perspective and more creative approaches to solutions and enables innovative and optimized ways of approaching customers, resulting in long-term success and sustainable competitiveness."
In this context, the F.A.Z. Institute and ServiceValue recognized Allensbach University in Constance as a "Role Model in Diversity 2024" in the "University" category. "Diversity is also an essential concept for us as a university. It is about creating an environment in which all individuals are recognized, valued and supported, regardless of their different characteristics and backgrounds. Effective diversity management can help to promote an inclusive, respectful and productive working environment," says Timo Keppler, Chancellor of the private university. Allensbach University is regularly recognized for its high performance in various areas, most recently twice as Innovation Champion by FOCUS-Business, as "Excellent Distance Learning Provider" by Fernstudium Direkt and with 3rd place among German private universities in the F.A.Z. Institute's 2024 ranking as "Germany's most desirable employer".
The methodology of the F.A.Z.-Institut and ServiceValue is based on a twofold principle. The social media monitoring examines the topics of equality, fairness and gender shift for the companies. Parallel to the social media monitoring, a structured questionnaire was sent out to companies covering the three areas of corporate mission and diversity, diversity goals and performance.
Incidentally, Allensbach University offers the Certificate program "Integration and Diversity Management" a quick and practice-oriented access to this growing field: "The university certificate comprises the two modules Diversity Management and Intercultural Integration Management from the M.A. Business Education and aims to qualify participants to competently face the challenges of integration and diversity efforts in their professional or organizational environment," says Timo Keppler. The professors responsible for diversity studies, Dr. Martin Bauer and Dr. Patrick Peters, have also published the specialist book "Diversity Management" with Kohlhammer Verlag.
