Master Finance: Distance learning for a second academic title

Master Finance: General information

The study program Master Finance is aimed at people who already have a first academic degree and work in the banking, finance or insurance sector. If you work in one of these sectors and want to advance your career, the Master's in Finance is the ideal way to make this a reality. At our university you can complete your Master part-time This means that you remain in the company throughout your studies and can apply your newly acquired knowledge immediately. The standard period of study for the Master's in Finance (M.A.) is 24 months, which corresponds to four semesters of 6 months each. At our university, you have the option of extending the length of the semesters. In this way, you can determine your own pace of study and adapt it to your individual needs. The total cost of the Master Finance course is 14,160 euros (590 euros per month). The distance learning course comprises four consecutive study sections with a wide range of content. Students choose a specialization ("Banking", "Wealth Management" or "Accounting and Taxation", see below).

Master Finance: Course content

In the first semester of the "Master Finance", methods of scientific work and empirical social research are taught. Other topics include project management, leadership, international financial markets and process management. The following semester focuses on corporate finance, credit assessment, portfolio management, digital finance, corporate governance and compliance. In the third semester, students complete three modules in their chosen specialization. Students acquire expert knowledge and complete a seminar paper in their modules in preparation for the Master's thesis, which deals with subject-specific topics. The final semester is reserved for writing the Master's thesis. During this phase, you will receive individual supervision from our professors.

Master Finance: Specializations

If you opt for the Master's in Finance, you must choose a specialization. You can choose from three compulsory elective areas. The "Banking" area covers the three areas of overall bank management and supervisory law, production management and sales management. The compulsory elective area "Wealth Management" includes the modules Private Equity and Hedge Funds, Financial and Succession Planning and Performance Analysis in Practice. The third compulsory elective area (Accounting and Taxation) deals with international accounting as well as national and international corporate taxation.

Master Finance: Admission requirements

In order to enrol on the Master's in Finance degree program, you must have a first professionally qualifying university degree or an equivalent degree in a degree program with a focus on economics. You must have earned at least 180 ECTS credit points. Your first degree must include all the core content of an undergraduate business degree (e.g. business mathematics and business administration). If you wish to enrol on the Master's in Finance degree program and do not meet the above requirements, you can take the relevant additional modules before starting your degree program.
