Since the 2010/11 winter semester, master craftsmen and those with equivalent qualifications as well as other professionally qualified individuals have been able to take up a course of study that corresponds to their professional activity or training under certain conditions. A course of study without an Abitur, where there is no subject-related commitment, can be taken up by professionally qualified persons who can present one of the following educational certificates: 1) a master craftsman's examination 2) other advanced vocational training, provided it is recognized as equivalent 3) a vocational school certificate within the meaning of Section 14 of the Education Act as well as proof of a counselling interview at a university or 4) advanced vocational training equivalent to the master craftsman's examination in the learned profession in accordance with the Crafts Code, the Vocational Training Act or another public law regulation If you meet one or more of the above conditions, you can achieve your goal of "Studying without a high school diploma" - in this case you have the qualification for a university degree course that concludes with the first academic degree (Bachelor / B.A.) at our distance learning university.
It is possible to study without an Abitur with a professional commitment if you have completed vocational training regulated by state or federal law (at least two years) and have several years of professional experience in a field that corresponds to the desired course of study. As a rule, people interested in the "Study without A-levels" model are expected to have at least three years of professional experience. Furthermore, you must provide written proof of a counseling interview at a university and pass an aptitude test. The admission requirements are always checked by the university to which the candidate has applied.
